rabbit breeders in Singapore

short version: Singapore does not have ethical commercial rabbit breeders worth listing. we explain why, and where to go instead.

our position

we do not list commercial rabbit breeders in Singapore. this is a deliberate editorial choice, not an oversight. here is the reasoning, so you can decide whether you agree.

what the law allows in SG

under the Animal & Veterinary Service (AVS), pet shops can legally sell rabbits with a valid licence. there is no separate licensing category for hobbyist or backyard rabbit breeding. the rabbits sold in SG pet shops are typically imported from overseas farms or bred locally in unlicensed backyard setups. neither pathway has the welfare oversight that responsible breeding requires — health screening of parents, lineage records, socialisation protocols, lifetime return policies.

what the SG rabbit community says

every active SG rabbit rescue — The Stray Wabbit, House Rabbit Society Singapore, Bunny Wonderland, and SPCA Singapore — handles pet-shop and breeder surrender cases regularly. the typical pattern is a rabbit bought on impulse, surrendered within 6-18 months once the owner discovers the work involved. promoting more buying makes that cycle worse.

where SG owners actually find their rabbit

  1. adopt from a rescue. SG rescues have rabbits of every breed, age, and personality. they spay/neuter before adoption, give a rough age and known health history, and offer ongoing support. see the rescue directory.
  2. foster first. if you are unsure rabbits suit your life, most SG rescues run foster programmes. you take care of a rabbit for weeks, decide if you want to adopt, and the rescue covers vet costs.
  3. community rehoming. SG rabbit Facebook groups and Telegram channels constantly have owners rehoming for migration or family changes. these rabbits are usually already neutered, litter trained, and come with their setup.

if you still want to buy a rabbit from a pet shop

that is your decision and we will not gatekeep. before you do, please read adopt vs buy — SG rescues vs breeders honestly compared and the actual cost of owning a rabbit in Singapore. ask the pet shop:

  • what farm or breeder did this rabbit come from?
  • has the rabbit been health-checked by a vet, and which one?
  • what is your return policy if the rabbit develops a health issue in the first 30 days?
  • what is the rabbit's date of birth, not just the import date?

if any of those answers is vague, the shop has not done its homework. walk away.
